Appliances You Want

Stainless steel Appliances are difficult to maintain true?
I'm trying to figure out what I want / if it were not for so many comments about how hard are they to keep looking nice, I would for a fact that I want to know. They are best in my kitchen, but I've heard of plenty negative comments about. I wonder if some people are just bitter because they can not justify the extra spending $ $ on it. How do you think about SS, without thinking about the price?
I would think that if you have small kids stainless steel appliances might not only be the best choice. Kids tend to fingerprints left a lot of small round and sticky handprints. I have a combo of stainless steel and black appliances in my kitchen, and the simplest way I found it must be kept clean with nothing more than hot, soapy water, rinse water and hardly have a microfiber cloth. I even have a stainless steel back splash behind my stove and it is the same treatment. Stainless steel is brushed with a slightly easier to keep clean, but if you notice even fingerprints very quickly. My second favorite to use what is a combo of the window cleaners and rubbing alcohol (50/50 mix) with a lint-free cloth. But I find the hot soapy water to do much easier if I wiped the kitchen. The microfiber cloth is a real key item here! A sponge or rag will do nothing but leave smears.
